2014 Spring Fine Arts Night

2014 Spring Fine Arts Night

Students at Lura Libby School in Thomaston have been busy learning. This year’s Fine Arts festival, under the direction of Beverly Pacheco, presented that theme through their program Monday May 12,2014 called “A World of Learning.”

Kindergarteners presented “ The Little Wonders “songs that focused their learning around insects. Grades 1 and 2 presented songs of “Fun and Fables” that included Beautiful Butterfly, Oh Susanna, Don Gato, and Happiness Runs. Grade 2 shared a special rendition of ‘Blackbird” by the Beatles as an integration for an art residency.

Lura Libby Second Graders participated in a 4 week "Leaps of Imagination" project. The project integrated literacy, art and music. The children were immersed in folk tales, which led them to create amazing collagraphs (an intricate print making process). The folk tale Beautiful Blackbird inspired writing, art and song. The children performed the song "Blackbird" at our spring Fine Arts Festival. It was a wonderful way to celebrate this learning process. Thank you to Nancy Harris-Frohlich and our artists in residence: Alexis Immarino, Susan Beebe, Sarah Rogers and Sandy Weisman for providing us with tis special experience.

“I can make a Difference” was presented by Grade 3 and 4 as they entertained with Count on Me by Bruno Mars, Roar, by Katy Perry, and Kind-Hearted Hand. The song “Over the Rainbow” was dedicated to their teacher Susan Davenport.  The students were accompanied by Sybil Wentworth.
