Family Literacy Night

On Thursday March 31 from 5:00-7:00, 51 families, totaling 145 people, came to Lura Libby’s First Family Literacy Night. Families were pre-registered and given a schedule of sessions based on choices they chose during registration. Families were able to pick from a variety of activities such as human spelling, a musical read a loud, interactive white board writing and game making. Most sessions involved families making things or using materials that they were able to bring home for their own use. All families received a literacy take home pack at the door that included information on the importance of early literacy in the home as well as book. Families enjoyed a healthy dinner, browsed displays of classroom literacy programs and visited a book fair. The library was open for families to check out books together as well. The night concluded with several great door prizes. Thank you to all of the families that attended.
